Prefeitura do Rio poderá contratar R$ 800 milhões do BNDES para obras olímpicas.
A prefeitura do Rio de Janeiro poderá pegar R$ 800 milhões emprestados no Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES) para concluir obras de infraestrutura associadas à realização dos Jogos Olímpicos. O limite para a contratação de financiamentos pelo município foi ampliado pelo Conselho Monetário Nacional (CMN).
De acordo com o Ministério da Fazenda, Henrique Meirelles, o novo financiamento ajudará a prefeitura a custear obras como o BRT Transbrasil, o VLT do Rio, a duplicação do Elevado do Joá, a ligação Transolímpica - Transbrasil e a fazer melhorias no entorno do Parque Olímpico e do Engenhão, entre outros projetos.
Segundo a prefeitura carioca, todas as obras estão praticamente concluídas, mas a administração municipal até agora bancou os aumentos de custo decorrentes de ampliação no escopo e no alongamento dos prazos de execução. Agora, a prefeitura usará a linha de crédito do BNDES para refinanciar esses gastos adicionais.
O novo financiamento não terá garantia da União. Ou seja, caso a prefeitura do Rio não consiga pagar o banco, o governo federal não arcará com o prejuízo. Com a ampliação do limite de crédito, o valor emprestado pelos bancos públicos para obras relacionadas aos Jogos Olímpicos e Paralímpicos do Rio saltará para R$ 5,4 bilhões. Segundo a Fazenda, o limite anterior, de R$ 4,6 bilhões, havia sido utilizado.
