Apenas oito pessoas no planeta concentram uma riqueza correspondente à da metade mais pobre da população mundial, denuncia a a ONG britânica Oxfam em um relatório publicado antes do Fórum Econômico Mundial, que começa nesta terça-feira em Davos.
"É indecente que tanta riqueza esteja concentrada nas mãos de uma minoria tão pequena, quando se sabe que uma em cada dez pessoas no mundo vive com menos de 2 dólares por dia", afirmou uma porta-voz da Oxfam, Manon Aubry.
O relatório, intitulado "Uma economia a serviço dos 99%", revela "como as grandes empresas e os indivíduos mais ricos exacerbam as desigualdades, ao explorar um sistema econômico desfalecente, sonegando impostos, reduzindo salários e aumentando os rendimentos para os acionistas".
Segundo a ONG, a este ritmo, o primeiro "supermilionário" do mundo pode alcançar um patrimônio de mais de um trilhão de dólares em apenas 25 anos. Para gastar esta soma, seria necessário "gastar um milhão de dólares por dia durante 2.738 anos", destaca.
Para seu estudo, a Oxfam se baseou na lista das oito pessoas mais ricas, segundo a classificação da revista Forbes.
Trata-se, por ordem, do americano Bill Gates (fundador da Microsoft, cujo patrimônio é calculado em 75 bilhões de dólares), do espanhol Amancio Ortega (Inditex), Warren Buffet (diretor-geral e primeiro acionista da Berkshire Hathaway), do mexicano Carlos Slim (Grupo Carso), Jeff Bezos (fundador e diretor-geral da Amazon), Mark Zuckerberg (diretor-geral e co-fundador do Facebook), Larry Ellison (co-fundador e diretor-geral do Oracle) e Michael Bloomberg (fundador e diretor-geral da Bloomberg LP).
A Oxfam, que tradicionalmente denuncia as crescentes desigualdades por ocasião do Fórum de Davos, adverte neste ano sobre "a pressão exercida sobre os salários em todo o mundo", assim como os benefícios fiscais das empresas ou o recurso a paraísos fiscais.
"As empresas otimizam seus lucros, especialmente aliviando o máximo possível sua carga fiscal, privando os Estados de recursos essenciais para financiar as políticas e os serviços necessários para diminuir as desigualdades", destaca o documento.
A ONG, que se baseia em "novas informações mais precisas sobre a divisão da riqueza no mundo", convoca os governos a reagir promovendo uma economia mais humana.
"Quando as autoridades políticas deixarem de estar obcecadas pelo PIB, se concentrarem no interesse de todos os cidadãos e não apenas de uma elite, será possível um futuro melhor para todas e todos", afirma Aubry.
No ano passado, a Oxfam havia denunciado que o patrimônio acumulado do 1% mais rico do mundo havia superado em 2015 os 99% restantes com um ano de antecedência em relação ao previsto.
